It has an elastomer insert in the cavity to provide enhanced feel while still maintaining the solid response of steel-faced putters. The elastomer insert is placed behind the face instead of on it.

Think of the insert on this Ping B60 putter like a piece of lead tape in the cavity. It changes the sound and vibration of a putt, but it is nonetheless a steel-faced putter. Off-center hits would remain noticeable, but they would not be as harsh as they once were. The whole Karsten line of golf clubs gives a nice and solid click as you hit the ball. The weight savings from the cavity shape are redistributed to the perimeter to boost the moment of inertia for the B60 putter and thus produce added forgiveness.
