Hello Golfers
Happy Tuesday, if there is such a thing. I noted a huge response to last weeks newsletter containing the headline for an April fools joke about taxing lost golf balls. Given the enormous amount of animosity in the media about politics recently, it certainly hit a nerve.
Given my form on the weekend I am glad it was only a hoax!

Countdown
Winding down Magnolia drive on a beautiful spring day, warm sunshine on my face, pristine manicured gardens all around me with the sweet fragrant scent of spring in the air and the sight of the butler cabin right in front of me. Then bang, Im awake, early hours of Monday morning I'm watching the live t.v. coverage, oh how I love the Masters.
Only a couple of more days now and the US Masters will be under way. We have three Australians in the field this year being Adam Scott, Jason Day, John Senden and Marc Leishman, best of luck guys.
*Did you know? At the Masters all paper cups sold at the vendor stands are printed in green, so as to blend into the background when the cameras are rolling.

Return of the R.S.G.
Golf Australia has confirmed the 2013 Emirates Australian Open will be played at Royal Sydney Golf Club from Thursday 28 November – 1 December.
After three consecutive years at The Lakes Golf Club, the Open will return to the Royal Sydney’s Rose Bay layout for the first time since 2008 where Tim Clark became the first South African since Gary Player to win the Open after a play-off victory over Australia’s Mat Goggin.
“The Australian Open is synonymous with Sydney, having hosted the event since 2006. The NSW Government, through Destination NSW, has established a strategic partnership with Golf Australia to stage the Open in Sydney until 2015, with the long-term vision of the tournament becoming the premier event in the Asia Pacific region.”
George Souris, NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events,
“Royal Sydney has hosted the Open 13 times and counts Gary Player, John Senden, Aaron Baddeley, Robert Allenby and Mark Calcavecchia among the past champions to lift the Stonehaven Cup there,”
Golf Australia CEO Stephen Pitt.
Earlier this month 6-time Australian Open champion Jack Nicklaus confirmed the Open would move to The Australian Golf Club in 2014.

Young Blood
Young Prodigy Guan Tianlang is aiming for a career grand slam and a place in the record books before he turns the grand old age of 14!
He is the reigning Asia-Pacific Amateur champion and next month he will play at the Masters, becoming the youngest player to ever tee off at Augusta.
Tianlang, from Lion Lake Golf Club in Guangzhou, played the Emirates Australian Open for the first time last December after earning a Golf Australia exemption when he won the International Final of the Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship in China earlier in 2012.
The Chinese prodigy will surpass the Masters age record set by Italian Matteo Mannasero who was 16 when he teed off in 2010 but dreams of securing the career grand-slam.
"I wish, one day, I can win all four majors in one year."
No player has achieved the modern-era grand slam, yet...

PRO TIP:Long Stuff
At this time of year it tends to rain a little more than usual. Dry fairways and rough certainly needed some water, the grass can suddenly shoot up and get very long and wiry, especially on courses with Kikuyu grass.
You will find your drives come up short of your expected target zones, and the trick is to adjust to the change in seasonal conditions and take an extra club. Chances are that the greens will be softer and will easily accommodate a shot with less backspin and less trajectory.
So don't force those important iron shots, get yourself into contention for some birdies.
