Hello,
G'day folks, sorry we missed you last week, there were a few of us on holidays at the same time at Golf Traders HQ.
I hope you have been inspired by events at the recent US Open and managed to get out onto your local course for some golf time.
Now that the shortest day of the year is well and truly behind us over for another year, we can look forward to lighter evenings ahead. This will eventually mean getting nine holes in after or even before clocking on for work. |

One Day
Jason Day must be ruing his luck. Having been in contention for almost every major championship over the past two years, he must be feeling like his time will never come.
Jason's story is similar to that of fellow Aussie Bruce Crampton who ran second 3 or 4 times in his career and was ranked among the top five golfers in the world in both 1972 and 1973, according to Mark McCormack's world golf rankings.
I don't know what odds Tommy Waterhouse would give you to-Day winning a major, but I'm guessing the return on your money would be extremely low, as we all know he is going to win more than the one.
After leading this year’s Masters on Saturday, Day tied for second with Phil Mickelson at the U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club, finishing 3-over par and two strokes behind winner Justin Rose.
Second is something Day, 25, has been used to recently at majors, there are still two more this year to play for so don't be surprised if he is makes Waterhouse cough up!
In recent interviews Day said he is doing all the right things and feels good about his game.
“I’ve got to keep putting myself in position to win,” said Day, who bogeyed No. 18 Sunday to kill his chances.
“I feel that my game is in a really good spot right now. I’m doing the right things. I’m doing the little things that count. I’ve been close so many times now in majors, especially at a young age, which is nice.”
Keep your money, this guy is going to win two or more, ONE DAY...

Charity Golf Days
Sometimes the best way to obtain a game at one of Melbourne’s famous Sand Belt Private clubs, or other 'members only' courses around Australia, is by participating at one of the annual Charity Days run at many prestigious venues.
It benefits everyone and is a great way of meeting like minded people who want to help out different charities around the country. So if the course you always wanted to play is listed at such an event, go on and pick up the phone and make someone's day.
Usual requirements are an official handicap and correct attire. A set of clubs would also help but I'm sure you could rent or even borrow a set from someone.
Below are charity some events from the 2013 roster:

Bieber Golf
Justin Bieber booked an entire golf course for a recent visit to Dubai.
The 19-year-old singer planned to keep himself occupied during his trip to the United Arab Emirates city in order to play two concerts at The Sevens Stadium.
During the day he got back-to-back lessons over two days whilst he relaxed and took advantage of some 'much-needed' alone time.
They hired out an entire golf course for two days to give him much-needed privacy.
As well as the golf course, the Canadian star's team contacted the Wild Wadi and Aquaventure water parks before his visit and requested them to close off the facility for his own personal use and not be mobbed by fans.

PRO TIP:Side Spin
What Causes Side Spin?
Side spin is responsible for curving the ball to the right or left during its flight (as it does with a slice or hook shot for example).
The club face angle in relation to the line of the swing path is what determines side spin – and the amount of it. A club face angle that is open relative to the swing path line places clockwise spin on the ball. The more open the club face is relative to the swing path line, the more side spin it places on the ball.
And it’s vice versa for a club face angle that is closed relative to the swing path. It places anti-clockwise spin on the golf ball and the bigger the angle between club face and swing path line, the more counter-clockwise spin it results in.
Happy golfing
